We were delighted to attend and be the networking sponsor of the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand (PTAANZ) Aotearoa New Zealand Conference in Wellington this year. For us, sponsoring the networking drinks was an amazing opportunity to put our support behind a sector we genuinely believe in.
To us, Public transport is about access, independence, equity, and inclusion. It connects people to jobs, education, healthcare, and community life. It's why Somar Digital and TransitDash are so invested in the sector – and why we were proud to sponsor PTAANZ.
At the networking drinks the evening before the conference, Fiona Reid, CEO of Somar Digital, set the tone for the days ahead: "If we continue to lead with partnership, innovation, courage and care, we can shape a future where public transport is not seen as just an alternative, but as one of the most important foundations of a thriving Aotearoa."
Our Product & Customer Experience (CX) Specialist Lauren Strpko moderated the panel on Harmonising Customer Experience Through Shared Insight – a session exploring how the sector can better share customer research and insights to support smarter decision-making and create more consistent experiences for passengers.
With changes like Motu Move and EMV payments reshaping how people travel in New Zealand, the case for a more coordinated, knowledge-sharing approach across agencies has never been stronger.
From the conference floor discussions to the networking drinks, it was a full and energising day in the company of people who care deeply about making public transport work better for everyone. We're grateful to PTAANZ for having us, and we're already looking forward to what comes next.
