The Intelligent Transportation Systems New Zealand (ITSNZ) T-Tech conference brought two packed days of conversations, connections, and ideas with New Zealand's transport technology community. Here's what we got up to.
This year we were selected to present on three topics. It's a milestone we're genuinely proud of:
A particular highlight was our own Shaun Hunter, Head of Innovation, placing third for Best Presentation. His session on GTFS covered the parts of the specification that most New Zealand agencies aren't yet using, including seat capacity, richer fares information, and trip modifications for detours. He made the case for getting these right now to set agencies up for what's ahead. He also shared some intriguing future GTFS improvement proposals surfacing in developer channels, from bicycle position availability to transit stop amenities.
We asked the team for their highlight from the two days:
Fiona Reid, CEO: "Putting the customer back into the experience!"
Shaun Hunter, Head of Innovation: "Connecting with so many people who are passionate about making a difference in the transport space and being able to nerd out over public transport data."
Lauren Strpko, Product & CX Specialist: "Sharing thought leadership alongside our Metlink partners, showcasing the innovative customer experience projects we've worked on together."
It was also a treat seeing TransitDash and Somar Digital orange throughout the venue, from the lanyards to the coffee cups and, of course, the coffee cart.
We're already looking forward to the ITS Asia-Pacific Forum in May 2027. Get in touch in the meantime -->
